Each year SLH proudly shares Elders Stories. While recording Elders 7, two Elders requested their captíkʷł stories be shared in winter, following Syilx protocols. Out of respect for Herman Edward and Theresa Ann Terbasket's wishes, these stories are provided separately. Please listen to these captíkʷł while snow is on the mountains.
twiʔ (the late) kiʔláwna Andrew McGinnis was a wonderfully kind and generous fluent Elder who resided at Penticton Indian Band. He shared a wealth of stories over the years. Not only did he record stories for the Syilx Language House, he also recorded and transcribed his own stories for years. The stories below are previously recorded by kiʔláwnaʔ. He generously gave permission to compile his works in one place and republish them here as a gift to learners.
